Short description:
‘Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives’ (CEA) is a French governmental research-and-technology organization speculating in energy, Information Technology, healthcare, defense and security. One of its divisions, CEA-Tech, focuses on creating value and innovation through technology transfer to its industrial partners. It employs 4,500 scientists and engineers including 300 Ph.D. students and 300 assignees from partner companies. CEA-Tech owns more than 2,200 patent families. CEA-LITEN has a Large Research Infrastructure R&D platform that focuses on lithium-ion battery and fuel cells with small-run production, from materials synthesis through to integration. In parallel, CEA develops a full multi-scale modelling platform for different e-components of electric vehicles (battery or hybrid with fuel cell) with a model based approach.

Role in the project:
CEA will be in charge of data collection and analysis and will also be active with:

  • Data distribution
  • Periodic analysis of the technical performance of the fleet
  • Review report with a clear technical conclusion on the performance of the hydrogen fuelled refuse vehicle
  • Life cycle environmental analysis – to assess the environmental performance of the hydrogen fuelled refuse truck under different assumptions on hydrogen production and delivery
  • Standardization and hazard analysis
